Airbus A380

The biggest attraction at the Singapore Air Show was the Airbus A380.

For the longest time it's been known as A3XX. Commercial flights

should begin in early 2007 after 18 months of testing, with the

delivery of the first aircraft to launch customer Singapore Airlines.

That's the one I saw, as you can see

The A380 is double decked, with the upper deck extending along the

entire length of the fuselage, unlike the Boeing 747. Two models of

the A380 are currently available. The A380-800, the passenger model,

is the largest passenger airliner in the world, superseding the Boeing

747. The other launch model, the A380-800F, will be one of the largest

freight aircraft

The A380-800 has a maximum range of 15,000 kilometers (8,000 nmi,

sufficient to fly from Chicago to Sydney nonstop), and a cruising

speed of Mach 0.85 (about 900 km/h at cruise altitude), similar to

that of the Boeing 747. I am one of the few in the world who's ever

seen one before it's official maiden flight
