Yesterday was an exciting day, yet not so exciting day. Exciting because
Steve Jobs gave a keynote and announced many delightful news. Not so
exciting because there's nothing (affordably) revolutionary. I was expecting
to receive news of a new Apple iBook. A new shocking new design and Intel
dual core or single core processor inside
But NO. Steve Jobs announced the new iLife software, a new Intel powered
iMac and a new Powerbook - dubbed MacBook Pro. It only comes in 15.4 wide
screen version. The new portable is powered by an Intel Core Duo processor
at either 1.67 or 1.83GHz. There's 512MB - 2GB RAM, built-in iSight
(webcam), FrontRow (remote multimedia center). It will also come standard
with the backlit keyboard. There's a sensor that detects how much light
there is in the room and will light the keyboard accordingly, so you can
type in complete darkness without having to guess what button is for which
alphabet. Packed to be brim with other fantastic features, it's great if you
have like USD$2000 to spare. But I expecting them to announce a USD$799 or
$999 notebook to replacement for the ageing iBook. The new MacBook Pro costs
$1999 for the 1.67MHz dual core version
Oh, and if you must know. Apple sold 14 million iPods during the holiday
season at the end of 2005
