I've been busy traveling, celebrating my birthday and well, watching
bad movies. One of them is Hostel. The movie was so bad, I walked out
of the cinema. Its not to say that I am a terribly difficult person to
please. I always make the best of whatever crap I walk into at the
cinema. But Hostel was a lame excuse for a gore movie. Ellie Roth, the
director must have had a good laugh by putting Quentin Tarantino's
name in the credit as one of the producers of this horrible show
Let me begin describing the film... While backpacking through Europe,
college students Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and Josh (Derek Richardson)
seek the ultimate vacation through sex, drugs and unforgettable
experiences. When a friendly stranger informs the two of a hostel in
Bratislava that offers the most beautiful and promiscuous women in all
of Europe, Paxton and Derek trek with their new Icelandic friend Oli
(Eythor Gudjonsson) to find the hostel that sounds too good to be
true. When arriving to Bratislava, the trio found that the hostel was
everything and more of what they expected. Insert lots of female
nudity, hanging breasts, clubbing scene and horny sluts here. Then the
events that follow are sure to deliver the unforgettable vacation that
the two were looking for
One by one, people started disappearing from the hostel. An
investigation by a lonely tourist found that this is the place, people
pay to watch and experience murder by paying large sums of money. A
place, sick people use to vent out their anger against a certain
nationality, race or just to fulfil their psychotic dreams. So they
were led unsuspectingly to the place by murder-pimps, who earn money
from seducing backpackers with the idea of a nirvana of sex, tits and
exotic women. Insert gags, powertools that drill through your thighs,
dismembered bodies, beheaded corpses, a graphic depiction of a wire
cutter chopping off a toe, extreme bondage, destroying of eye balls
and lots of blood spewing while you are alive - kind of things
Up till here I was ready to leave the cinema. This movie is nothing
but a cheap gore movie that hasn't left the premise of bad kids, in a
wrong place, getting killed one by one. Remember I Know What You Did
Last Summer, House of Wax, These Hills Have Eyes and stuff like
that... only with more blood and less known actors. This show makes
Saw look like a comedy and the script... oh my god. If i got a dollar
for everytime the word FUCK is mentioned, I'd be Bill Gates by now.
Profanities don't make up for a lack of vocabulary. It's a complete
waste of my time. This film is for the bored and those who are dying
to spend RM10 on a movie ticket. I am shocked Quentin had anything to
do with this movie that sucked so bad, it's like a watching dung
beetle take a crap
